Shadi Vahabzadeh
"In the world through which I travel I am endlessly creating myself."
Shadi is an Iranian - British artist based in UK, Bristol. Her English and Bristol life in England and her Persian saturation of colour and inheritance histories, have made for a rich debate materially and verbally for herself on her own discoveries in her creativity. Shadi, is keenly intuitive and gestural, constantly finding new ways and explanations to communicate the complex poetical and inner sensibilities she is trying to make sense of.
"Each painting is an exploration into an unknown country, or as Manet said, it is like throwing oneself into the sea in order to learn to swim." Prunella Clough
Colour, materials and surfaces excite her and enhance her creative sensibilities to find empathy for emotions and psychological states of mind that are beyond words.
She believes the concept needs to be changed by the appropriate materials, to find a synergy and translation between the two.
"No suffering is unnecessary
All of it only enlightening, this is life
Asceticism is a mistake
Sought out of suffering is a mistake
But what comes to you free is enlightening." Agnes Martin writings 1991 page 36
"Let us learn to look like the concert goer listens. Music is a composition of sonorous forms in time. Painting is a composition of visual forms in space." Antoni Tapies,Waddington Galleries 2006, page 6
